Master module allocation
Examination Regulations PO 2018 and PO 2025
Since 1 October 2025, the Master’s programme in Biology has been offered under the Examination Regulations 2025 (PO 2025).
Selection of Small Master Modules / Half Modules (8 CP)
Students enrolled under PO 2025 may regularly choose small Master modules (8 CP).
Students enrolled under PO 2018 may also take these modules. However, in order for the completed coursework to be recognized as a large module (14 CP), an additional academic component is required.
Recognition as a Large M-Module (14 CP)
The following combinations may be recognized as one large module (14 CP):
- Two small modules (8 CP each)
- One small module (8 CP) + one “Fundamentals” lecture
- One “Fundamentals” lecture + a six-week laboratory internship
(recognized as module M4474 “Integrative Topics in Life Science”)
Important
Recognition is not automatic.
Students under PO 2018 must take active steps after completing the required components and formally apply for recognition.
A change to PO 2025 is possible at any time.
For this purpose, please first contact the Student and Examination Administration (spv-biologie@hhu.de) and inform them by email of the date on which you would like to be transferred to the new examination regulations.
