An opportunity to carry out M.Sc. research project is available at the Research Group Molecular Medicine, the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Clinical Immunology.

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation has been successfully used for treatment of certain life-threatening diseases for decades and more than 1500.000 patients worldwide have received a hematopoietic stem cell transplant. Elaborating the mechanisms of signal transduction and gene regulation in these cells is important to understand their biology and therapeutic uses.

Therefore, we explore signal transduction and gene regulation in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells. Interestingly, hematopoietic stem cells were the first discovered stem cells, and were also the first to be used in a transplantation therapy.
